Cow Wow Studied at the University of Texas

John Burns, Manager of Landscape Services at the University of Texas commissioned a study with the goal being to find an ALL-NATURAL, cost-effective, time-saving and less expensive way to fertilize the grounds at the University. John had analyzed and priced several all-natural and organic fertilizer products from numerous manufacturers. When he learned about Cow Wow, he was so excited that he initiated the study with Cow Wow's owner Leslie Hearne.

On May 17th, a solution of 4-6 ounces of Cow Wow to 1 gallon of water was sprayed on a test area. The 200 square foot area of nutrient poor soil had St. Augustine grass and a proliferation of weeds. After just three days, the results were amazing. Cow Wow works because the dairy cow manure that is used to manufacture the product is 100% natural and it provides the perfect combination of micro- and macro-nutrients. It's immediately absorbed upon application, eliminating any runoff and waste. The area is quickly becoming thicker, greener and healthier and there's no manure odor.

One of the biggest challenges when he and his family moved to the Yellow House property five years ago was working with soils that tend to be thin and rocky. He uses a new product called Cow Wow that utilizes wastes from Sierra Dairy near Dublin. Geiselbrecht credits the product with helping him get his land ready for organic production sooner than he would have been able to do otherwise.

“It’s not so much an N, P and K fertilizer (nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium) as it is an organic fertilizer to help you build the soil,” he said. “The biggest trouble out here, other than the weather, is the heavy clay soils and the shallowness of the soils. You need something like this to help you get the soil right.”
